Stanza 1:
I saw three ships go sailing by,
Over the sea, the lifting sea,
And the wind rose in the morning sky,
And one was rigged for a long journey.
বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমি তিনটি জাহাজকে ভেসে যেতে দেখলাম, সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে, উত্তাল সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে; এবং ভোরের আকাশে বাতাস জেগে উঠল (বইতে শুরু করল), এবং একটি জাহাজ দীর্ঘ যাত্রার জন্য সজ্জিত ছিল।

Stanza 2:
The first ship turned towards the west,
Over the sea, the running sea,
And by the wind was all possessed
And carried to a rich country.
বঙ্গানুবাদ: প্রথম জাহাজটি পশ্চিম দিকে ঘুরল, সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে, প্রবহমান সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে; এবং বাতাসের দ্বারা পুরোপুরি নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয়ে (অনুকূল বাতাসে) একটি ধনী দেশে নীত হলো।

Stanza 3:
The second ship turned towards the east,
Over the sea, the quaking sea,
And the wind hunted it like a beast
To anchor in captivity.
বঙ্গানুবাদ: দ্বিতীয় জাহাজটি পূর্ব দিকে ঘুরল, সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে, কম্পমান সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে; এবং বাতাস তাকে একটি পশুর মতো তাড়া করল, বন্দিদশায় নোঙর ফেলার জন্য।

Stanza 4:
The third ship drove towards the north,
Over the sea, the darkening sea,
But no breath of wind came forth,
And the decks shone frostily.
বঙ্গানুবাদ: তৃতীয় জাহাজটি উত্তর দিকে চলল, সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে, অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্ন সমুদ্রের ওপর দিয়ে; কিন্তু বাতাসের কোনো লেশমাত্র ছিল না, এবং জাহাজের পাটাতনগুলো তুষারে বা ঠান্ডায় চকচক করছিল।

Stanza 5 & 6:
The northern sky rose high and black
Over the proud unfruitful sea,
East and west the ships came back
Happily or unhappily:
But the third went wide and far
Into an unforgiving sea
Under a fire-spilling star,
And it was rigged for a long journey.
বঙ্গানুবাদ: উত্তরের আকাশ উঁচুতে কালো হয়ে উঠল, সেই গর্বিত ফলহীন সমুদ্রের ওপর; পূর্ব ও পশ্চিমের জাহাজগুলো ফিরে এল, সুখে বা দুঃখে: কিন্তু তৃতীয় জাহাজটি অনেক দূর এবং বহুবিস্তৃত পথে এগিয়ে গেল, একটি ক্ষমাশীলতাহীন সমুদ্রে, একটি আগুন ঝরানো নক্ষত্রের নিচে, এবং এটি দীর্ঘ যাত্রার জন্য সজ্জিত ছিল।
