Class 8: English, Lesson – 12 Someone

Lesson 12: Someone
(Walter John de la Mare)

(Bengali Translation)

আমার অতি ছোট দরজায়;

কেউ একজন টোকা দিল;

আমি নিশ্চিত-নিশ্চিত-নিশ্চিত;

সেই নিস্তব্ধ, অন্ধকার রাতে;

A Night in the Forest

Last winter, I stayed at a forest guest house in the Dooars. It was a full moon night. The moonlight filtered through the tall trees, creating a magical atmosphere. The forest was silent, except for the occasional sound of crickets and night birds. I sat on the balcony, watching the play of light and shadow. Suddenly, I saw a herd of deer grazing near the fence. It was a thrilling and peaceful experience that I will cherish forever.

Autobiography of an Owl

I am a barn owl, the guardian of the night. During the day, I sleep in the hollow of an old oak tree to avoid the bright sunlight. When darkness falls, I wake up. My big round eyes can see everything in the dark. I fly silently with my soft wings to hunt for mice and insects. Humans often find my call spooky, but I am just singing my song. I enjoy the peaceful, moonlit nights of the forest.
